Garnet: it's your birthright to feel good

Garnet wonders, why you are not indulging yourself at all times? There is so much richness, beauty, joy and pleasure to be had…why is this not your everyday experience?

With its rich deep hue, Garnet connects deeply with the root chakra and the basic needs, wants and desires that are inherent to the human experience. Equipped with our 5 senses, humans have the capacity to seek and experience joy, love, comfort, sensuality and pleasure in each moment. Potential experiences surround us, from the warmth of the sun, and the cozy comfort of our beds, to the pleasures of luscious foods, fragrant scents, and craved touch.

These desired experiences very much drive our aspirations, and yet…we deny ourselves the enjoyment so often distracted by…what? This is what Garnet wants to know, or more importantly, wants you to recognize.

Upon your own reflection (where am I so often, when I could be indulging in pleasure?), you will probably answer: In my head.

The mind. Oh, the mind. 

The mind, or brain, is the central piece of the nervous system and it’s whole goal is to keep us safe.  And yet, this mind, whose primary tool in keeping us safe is fear, is usually what keeps us locked away in doubt, shame, and obligation. Worry, anxiety, and stress are the result, and as it turns out the primary cause of so many of our modern day illnesses and diseases. Not to mention lackluster, unfulfilled lives.

This is the very definition of self sabotage. 

In the study of the chakra system, the demon of (or what blocks) the root chakra if FEAR. While a healthy root chakra helps us feel safe, taken care of, comfortable, and stable, fear throws all of that out the window. When we listen to fear, we contract and close ourselves off from what is available to us. Our experience begins to match our own energy, proving to us what fear has been telling us: life is hard and scary. Meanwhile, fruit is dying on the vine, waiting for you to show up and enjoy it.

Garnet ignites the root chakra and encourages us to reclaim our empowerment, our fulfillment, our pleasure. This is our birthright; this is why we are here having this human experience. To enjoy, to have fun, to feel good. And the whole path to this most amazing life is lit by our desires. Our desires are hard wired into our human bodies to keep us on the path of our purpose. Each of us has a unique purpose and unique gifts to share with the world. And these are matched with our unique desires. Feed your light by doing what feels good to you, and shine that light out into the space around you. Imagine a world like that!

When you feel good, you are inspired, you are fulfilling your purpose and you are making the spaces around you brighter.

So, Garnet begs the question again…why are you not indulging yourself all the time?!

Yes, challenge exists. But can you reframe what you know about challenge and see it as an opportunity to grow? Amazingness also exists amongst this challenge, a light to guide you through the dark. Look for it! Lean on it! And remind yourself that it’s all going to be ok, that life is beautiful despite challenge.

Look to Garnet to help quiet your fears, when doubt/stress/worry (fear’s favorite disguises) has you distracted and you need to reconnect to your own empowerment. You are safe. Remind yourself of this. And go out and do what feels good. Do it scared if you have to, just do it. And as you do, you will teach your nervous system that you are in fact safe, that life is actually pretty great. You can retrain yourself to relax and enjoy the good that is available in every moment.
